CMS (WordPress)

Whether you’re in the opening phases of product development, or making improvements to an existing digital product, we’re here to help you bring your vision and goals to life.

A CMS should make publishing easy for your team, not create work for your developers.

Jon, Technical Director

Content your team can manage

A good content management system lets your team publish, update and organise content without waiting on developers. We build WordPress sites around the way your organisation works, with clear content structures, sensible editing tools and page layouts that stay on brand. Editors stay in control, and developers can focus on improving the product.

Built for performance and security

WordPress powers a large share of the web, which also makes it a common target. We keep the core platform and plugins to a minimum, build custom themes rather than relying on heavyweight page builders, and follow security best practice from the start. The result is a site that loads quickly, ranks well and is straightforward to keep up to date.

Headless when it makes sense

For some products, WordPress works best behind the scenes. Used as a headless CMS, it can supply content to a fast React or Next.js front end, an app or several sites at once, while your editors keep a familiar interface.

Technologies used

WordPress, PHP, Advanced Custom Fields and the block editor for content, with React or Next.js for headless front ends, and modern build tooling to keep themes fast, maintainable and easy to update.

Some questions you might have

For many organisations, yes. It's mature, widely supported and familiar to editors, and its plugins cover most common needs. The key is building it well: a custom theme, few plugins and a clear content model. Where a product needs more flexibility or a different editing experience, we'll say so and suggest an alternative, such as a headless CMS.

Yes. We start with a review of the theme, plugins, hosting and content to understand what's working and what's causing problems. From there we can fix urgent issues, such as security updates or slow pages, and agree a plan for longer-term improvements, whether that's refining the current site or rebuilding parts of it.

A headless CMS manages your content but doesn't decide how it's displayed. Content is delivered through an API to a separate front end, such as a React website or a mobile app. This gives designers and developers more freedom over the experience, while editors keep a familiar place to write and publish.

We keep plugins to a minimum, choose well-maintained ones, and keep WordPress, themes and plugins up to date. We also limit admin access, use strong authentication, and host on platforms with managed security and backups. Regular reviews catch issues early, so the site stays secure as it grows.
